Nousanno'uhiilïï'flu in the old registers: the Sea of Rising Suns, the north-western water that catches both suns at dawn and holds them, briefly, like coins in a dark hand. The effect lasts a few minutes and has been worth the whole cold crossing to travellers for as long as travellers have kept accounts. The rest of the day it is a working sea, grey and punctual, as if embarrassed by its own mornings.
