The Scattered Islands
An eastern equatorial island group scattered through the danger-waters of the Ooliel Belt Place The Ooliel Belt The great equatorial expanse of the eastern Great Water, where the maps of every imperial power give out.; barely charted and barely known.
Key traits
- Inside the Ooliel Belt, eastern Great Water Place The Great Water The great eastern ocean of Elshore, the open water reaching east toward the world's far side.; little is known.
The Scattered Islands are exactly that: a handful of sea-mounts thrown across the middle ocean as if the world, finishing its work, had shaken out its hands. No two are alike and none is large; together they are the only rest the eastern crossing offers, and sailors speak of them by number and mood. A few hold springs, one holds trees, and all of them hold the particular silence of land that sees people rarely and has formed no opinion.
