IOMS
The ISEMH Technology ISEMH System The Infrastructure for Synthetic Emergence and Matter Hosting, the planet-scale Inarin-era system that underlies the fallen world: an identity, logistics, fabrication, and senso... Orbital Main Station, the command station of the planet-scale system's orbital grid, riding the old grid orbit high above the fallen world. The grid was commissioned as a network of 1,024 satellites; IOMS is the one platform of station scale among them, built to command the rest. It is the orbital counterpart of the urban control nodes and the subsea cores, the high seat of a system that has outlived its makers. In AC 50 it still functions, degraded, under no stewardship at all: the empire that runs the public face of the nodes it holds, holds nothing of the sky.
Key traits
- The command station of the ISEMH orbital grid, on the old grid orbit: the orbital counterpart of the urban control nodes in the old Iru People Iru The progenitors, and the only naturally evolved people of Elshore. cities and the subsea cores in the deep.
- One platform among a commissioned network of 1,024 satellites, and the only one of station scale; beside it the rest of the grid lies beyond any reckoning from the ground.
- Iru-era engineering untended since the old world fell: functional in AC 50, but degraded, with no living authority above it and no hand on its systems.
- Runs on the system's own protocols, as the whole autonomous layer has since AC 7; whatever passes between the grid and the nodes below passes without anyone commanding it.
- To the present age it is a name in the old registers and nothing more: no one goes up, nothing comes down, and the station keeps its own counsel.
IOMS is the Infrastructure's high seat. The ISEMH is planet-scale - an orbital grid, subsea cores, and a control node in every major Iru city - and of those three arms the grid is the one the present age can neither reach nor read. It was commissioned as a network of 1,024 satellites, and at its head the Iru set one main station, built to command the rest: the Orbital Main Station, IOMS in the old registers, the single platform of station scale on the old grid orbit.
No one tends it. Since the autonomous layer took the system onto its own protocols in AC 7, the station has answered to no living authority; the Maan empire Place The Maan Empire By AC 364 the long Throne War has reshaped the north: the Maan Empire proper rules from Goldenhold under Emperor Theodelf Vissor, an absolute monarchy of order, debt and flame w..., which runs the public face of the urban nodes it holds, holds nothing of the sky. In AC 50 the station still functions, degraded: the orbital component remains part of the ISEMH apparatus, and whatever passes between the grid and the nodes below passes with no hand on either end.
To the ground it is a name and an orbit. The age that raised it could cross the distance between; the present age cannot, and knows that it cannot. Of all the works of the old world the main station is the furthest out of reach, and the world below has learned to live as though the sky kept nothing - which is not the same as the sky keeping nothing.
